Review of show: MIDDLETOWN JOURNAL
Color and energy abound in three new installations at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts. Cleveland native George Kocar takes jabs at art history and modern society in the paintings promising a "Comic Cure." His characters sport big, red clown noses, drive funny-looking cars, and obsessed with artists and are constantly avoiding banana peels. No one and nothing is sacred in these paintings. In "Lessons Unlearned," soldiers from different centuries come together on a battlefield to fight the same war, implying that in our attempts at civility and civilization, societies still have a need to engage in destructive behavior.
